Abstract:
To address the requirement for UAV takeoff and landing guidance in GNSS-denied environments, this paper proposes a positioning method utilizing data links. The method operates within an airborne terminal and works in conjunction with ground-based guidance stations to provide position information during UAV takeoff and landing phases. The paper uses the data link for distance measurement, and the UAV position is determined through an iterative least squares algorithm. With hardware devices developed specifically for this purpose, flight tests were conducted on a certain type of UAV. Test results show that the data link ranging accuracy is at the meter level, and the positioning accuracy is around 14 meters (95%), thereby validating the effectiveness of the proposed positioning method. The suggested takeoff and landing guidance system features low cost, flexible and mobile deployment, and facilitates integrated communication-navigation design for UAVs. However, when the system receives multipath signals under Non-Line-of-Sight (NLoS) conditions, significant ranging errors will occur, leading to degraded positioning accuracy.
